If you haven't signed up yet for Business Services Online (BSO), you can follow these steps to get started. You'll learn how to sign up, how to verify Social Security Numbers, and how to track the status of your AccuWage processing. Then, you can choose the services you want to access.
Sign up for Business Services Online
(BSO).
The BSO is an online service provided by
the Social Security Administration. It allows you to submit your wage reports
and view your status information. You must register with BSO once every year.
You cannot register on behalf of another person. Once you have registered with
BSO, you can access all the services offered by the SS.
AccuWage
AccuWage business services online provide
employers the ability to submit wage data directly to the SSA. Employers simply
need a PC and an internet connection to access the service. Issues related to
incorrect record sequence or length can be identified and corrected before the
file can be submitted. However, these errors do not halt the processing
of wage files.
Users can use AccuWage Online to check
the content of a file before proceeding to the next step. The software will
display any critical issues that must be corrected before moving on to the next
step. The user may also select the level of issue tolerance in the User
Preferences section of the AccuWage Online program.
AccuWage Online is a free application
provided by the Social Security Administration. It allows employers and
employees to check the accuracy of W-2s and W-2cs, and upload them to Business
Services Online. Users can get assistance from an Employer Services Liaison
Officer if they need it.
The EFW2C wage report must contain the
correct Social Security Number (SSN) code and the employer's Employer
Identification Number (EIN). The employer must also include the employee's name
and retirement plan. If an employee's RW record does not contain their Social
Security number, the system will not process the report.
The AccuWage online social security
program is compatible with Social Security and Medicare. To use it, simply log
into the website and select the appropriate fields. For example, the Correct
Wage and Tips field should be equal to the Social Security maximum for the TY being
reported. In addition, the correct TY must be 1983–1990.
Verifying Social Security Numbers
If you want to verify the Social
Security numbers of your clients, you can visit the SSA website and click on
the "Business Services Online" section. There, you can enter the
client's Employer Identification Number (EIN) and request an activation code.
You will be given a user ID and password. You can then request an access code
and activate your account.
The Social Security Administration's
Business Services Online website has several methods for verifying SSNs,
including the Social Security Verification Service. This online service
allows employers, third-party submitters, and other registered users to verify
the information of their employees. This online service allows you to verify up
to 10 names at one time and receive the results immediately. The web page
also offers a capacity of up to 250,000 names and SSNs, so you can verify many
SSNs in one session.
The SSN verification process is simple
and convenient. Using the SSN verification service allows employers to check
the validity of their employees' SSNs before they begin work. If an employee's
SSN does not match, it can cost an employer a lot of money in additional
processing fees, and it may also affect an employee's eligibility to receive
Social Security benefits.
To access the SSNVS, you need to be
logged into your BSO account. To do so, navigate to the BSO main menu and click
the "Account Maintenance" link. Once you have selected the option to
activate access to Business Services Online, enter the activation code you
received from the SSA into the box on the web page.
To verify SSNs for business services
online, you can use the Social Security Numbers Verification Service (SSNVS).
There are also free online services for private companies and state and local
government entities.
AccuWage's processing status
AccuWage Online is a convenient way to
check the accuracy of your annual wage report. This online service checks the
accuracy of your W-2 and W-2C wage reports by checking them against SSA
Publications 42-007 and 42-014. It also generates a test report, which details
any errors in the wage reports. If there are any problems, you can make the
necessary corrections and resubmit the file.
If your report contains several errors,
it can lead to a delay in processing. First, check the format of your report.
You can check the format by choosing the EFW2 or EFW2C format. Be sure to enter
all the necessary numbers for your wages. Otherwise, you may end up with incorrect
data. You can also check the number of issues per record by selecting
"Test Another File" from the AccuWage Online home page.
Another common error is a missing SSN.
Social Security numbers must contain nine digits. If an employee's name is
incorrect or misspelled, the social security number will be invalid. This can
lead to incorrect benefit amounts or ineligibility for Social Security
benefits. AccuWage Online checks your wage reports for errors before you upload
them to the Social Security Administration.
In addition to checking the accuracy of
your wage report, you can also check the processing status of your W-2 online
through the SSA's Business Services Online Suite of Services. This service
allows you to submit your wage report electronically and check its status for
free. By using this free software, you can avoid headaches and wasted time.
When you submit your wages, make sure
you enter all the required information. For example, if you're reporting wages
from TY 1982 or earlier, make sure the Correct Social Security Wages and Tips
field is equal to zero. If you have multiple employees, use Organization Name
to submit multiple wage reports online.
